Wilma Rudolph 5K Relay
Tuesday, March 25th, 2008
The Queen City Road Race in Clarksville, will now include for the first time a race named after Olympic champion Wilma Rudolph. The Queen City Road Race introduced two new team races this year on the 13th April, one been the corporate sponsered Cumberland Bank & Trust Corporate Challenge, the other being the Wilma Rudolph 5k Relay.
The Wilma Rudolph 5k Relay is a race for four team members, each running the 5km at the same time and the team members times are all added up, with the winners having the lowest cumulative time.
Race co-ordinater Jo Huber commented “It’s one of the oldest races in the city of Clarksville. Wilma Rudolph doesn’t have a race named after her and we’re her hometown. So we thought why don’t we start a new addition to the race and commemorate her.”
The entry fee for a team in the Wilma Rudolph 5k Relay is just $25 per team and registration must be confirmed before 31st March.
